A Quarter of Northern Luzon

3:32 PM

Here I go again with another overdue blog post. And honestly, there's no other excuse for such delay but work. My weekends are already accommodated by either accompanying my mom or aunt with groceries or shopping or hibernating. Anyway 'nuff with the repetitive excuse for non-blogging.

So about a month ago, my college friends and I went on our annual travels. This time we "conquered" Northern Luzon. Yes with the quoted conquered because I know how that's so much of a cliche.

Let me just give you a quick break down or a rough estimate of my finances during the trip.

I spent around 15,000PHP during our 7-day adventure that already includes flights, accommodation, food and pasalubongs.
  • Roundtrip ticket CEB-CLARK-CEB = PHP 1,150
  • Entrance fees in the different places we went to (will be narrated below) = PHP 3,000
  • Accommodation and ride (c/o the travel agency - Gearmasters Travel and Tours Agency) = PHP 5,600
  • Food (200x3x7) = PHP 4,200
  • Pasalubongs/Souvenirs =  PHP 1,050
I guess that's everything on the financial aspect.

Now, let's get down to our travel photos for me to somehow take you with me down the road of reminiscing one of the most memorable travels of my life.

Oh, sorry, let me just share with you the Google sheet of our itinerary.

NORTHERN LUZON 2019 (Sidenote: Kind of proud of how I constructed our itinerary. I wasn't the one who planned out everything per se. I was just the one who took the initiative to plot it. *pats self*)

Upon arrival from Clark International Airport, the travel agency we booked picked us up and went on one of the longest drive I've ever been to. We went straight to Sagada with a little Banaue Rice terraces on the side.

So our first day was mostly spent on the road since we had to take a long hour drive to the cold high mountains of Sagada.

An unsolicited tip before you plan a trip to Sagada:

If you really want to experience the place and everything it has to offer, you have to be physically and mentally prepared to do a lot of hiking and trekking - and I don't mean like a walk in a park kind of hike. When I say lot, I really mean A LOOOOOOOOOT. So yeah, just do some jogging from time to time before your scheduled Sagada trip.

Day 2 - We went caving in Sumaguing cave and hiked for 2-hours back and forth to Bumod-Ok falls.

Day 3 - Had to get up super early to catch the sunrise and witness the most breathtaking sea of clouds from Marlboro Mountains. And by super early I mean, 3AM-EARLY! For someone who absolutely hates waking up at the dawn of the day, I think this is a win!

The cover photo above is from Marlboro Mountains by the way.

These ones below are from Blue Soil. I can't really share much on why the soil became blue on that area. All I know is that there was some kind of activity done by a business and the chemicals they used turned the soil blue, thus, the name Blue Soil.

From that exhausting but fulfilling trek, the next thing on our agenda was Baguio City, but before we officially head off, we explored a little more of what Sagada has to offer.

Photo above is from St. Mary's Evangelical Church. Not a hundred percent sure if that's the name but I'm so sure it's a church but not for Catholics. Almost made a mistake of praying. Yikes! Should've read the bulletins.

Sagada Weaving is probably my favorite no-hikin-required spot in Sagada. Actually bought a bag made of the weaved cloth. Absolutely loved it and would ordered another one if ever a friend would visit there.

Day 4 - ALL THINGS BAGUIO

DAY 5 - Finally set foot in La Union, the surfing capital of the North. But first thing on the agenda was another falls

A quick group photo at the Tangadan Falls to seal off the memory

After having our way with all the waterfalls happiness, we went straight ahead to La Union's Surfing Beach.

DAY 7 - Last leg of an absolute awesome week.

Before I officially end this post, let me give a quick shoutout to Gearmaster Travel and Tour for a smooth and hassle-free travel from the different places in Luzon that we went to.
